Design Story: In the heart of our country, there is a sacred meeting place, where our ancestors gathered to share stories, wisdom, and traditions. This meeting place is the foundation of our culture, a place where we come together to connect with our past and our future. Scattered around this design are footprints of the emu and kangaroo, two animals that have long been important to our culture. These footprints symbolise our connection to the land and the animals that inhabit it, reminding us of our responsibility to care for and protect our country. A smaller meeting place at the top, representing the smaller communities that make up our country and the individuals who make up our community. Rays of sunshine emanates from this meeting place, symbolising the warmth and light that these communities bring to our country. The black and white handprints symbolise our connection to each other and to our ancestors, who have left their mark on our country and our culture. Together, these elements create a design that honours our country, our culture, and our community.

If you’re looking for a unique and meaningful addition to your wardrobe, consider purchasing an Aboriginal designed product. All Gumaraa’s product designs are based off self-taught Aboriginal painter, Richard George Campbell.

Our products are designed with vibrant colours and intricate patterns and each design has its own unique story and meaning. Not only do our designs look great, but they also have a deeper significance by representing a connection to the land and to the Aboriginal people who have lived on it for thousands of years.
