Join Gumaraa on an Aboriginal Culture Canoeing Tour along the Minnamurra River, a freshwater system of deep cultural importance on Dharawal Country. This guided experience offers a unique opportunity to learn about Aboriginal connections to waterways while travelling gently through river Country by canoe.

Led by Aboriginal cultural facilitators, the tour combines cultural storytelling with hands-on experience, allowing participants to connect with the river as a place of gathering, sustenance and shared knowledge.

Embark on our Cultural Canoeing tour, a unique experience that combines the natural beauty of the Minnamurra River with the rich history and traditions of Aboriginal culture. Start the tour off with a Welcome to Country, Traditional Smoking Ceremony and Ochre Ceremony. Paddle through the crystal-clear waterways, guided by our expert staff, as you explore the serene environment of mangroves and sea channels. Along the way, you’ll discover the fascinating evolution of canoes—from traditional bark designs to modern plastic ones—and how Aboriginal people skillfully used them for fishing, hunting, and daily life.

As you journey through this stunning landscape, our guides will share stories and insights about the deep cultural and spiritual connection the Aboriginal people have with the Minnamurra area. Learn about their sustainable practices, rich traditions, and the significance of the river to their way of life. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for an unforgettable outdoor adventure, this tour promises to be both educational and inspiring, leaving you with a newfound appreciation for the heritage and natural wonders of the region.

Suitable for ages 10 and up. Although you will be provided with a life vest, basic swimming skills are recommended and participation is at your own discretion.

Your Gumaraa guide will meet you at Trevethan Reserve, The village, Minnamurra NSW 2533 Please arrive 15 mins prior to start time.

Water bottle, sunscreen, and hat are recommended for sun protection.

Cancellation Policy:

Thank you for choosing our services. We understand that plans can change unexpectedly, and we strive to accommodate our customers as best as we can. However, in order to maintain the efficiency and sustainability of our operations, we have established the following cancellation policy:

1. Refund: If attendee cancels within 24 hours prior to workshop/program held date, refund will not be given, only change of date pending availability. Attendee must cancel prior to the 24 hour timeframe to receive full refund. In the event Gumaraa cancels due to minimum participants not being met, a full refund will be given, or change of date offered pending availability.

2. Change of Date: We understand that circumstances may arise which require a change of date for your booking. We allow one (1) change of date per booking, subject to availability. The change of date must be requested at least 10 days prior to the original booking date. Any changes requested within 10 days of the original booking date will not be accommodated.

3. Availability: The change of date is subject to availability. We cannot guarantee the availability of alternative dates, especially during peak periods. We recommend contacting us as soon as possible to request a change of date.

4. Additional Charges: Any changes made to the booking, including a change of date, may be subject to additional charges. These charges will be communicated to you by our customer service team once the change of date is confirmed.

5. Non-Transferable: Bookings are non-transferable to another individual or entity. The person who made the original booking must be the one requesting the change of date.

6. Force Majeure: In the event of unforeseen circumstances or force majeure, such as natural disasters, strikes, or government-imposed restrictions, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule bookings at our discretion. In such cases, we will make every effort to notify affected customers as soon as possible.
